Jean Velut is located in Montgueux village in the La Côte des Bar region, about 80km south of Epernay. The winemaking dates back more than 50 years and the family-run winery owns 7.3ha of vineyards.
The winery has a very strong awareness of environmental conservation, using green manure and grass cultivation, and harvesting is done by hand.
The maximum production capacity is about 28,000 bottles. About 40% of the grapes harvested are sold to other houses (top houses for Chardonnay cuvées).
Montgueux village is also known as "Montrachet of Champagne". Daniel Thibaut of Charles Heidsieck, who gave it this nickname, purchases Jean Velut's grapes because of their unique, highly aromatic grapes.

As a winemaker, I am a minimalist in every sense of the word, especially when it comes to Pinot Noir,” said Derek.
Derek founded Bravium―a Latin word meaning “gift” or “prize”―in 2007. His widely acclaimed small-lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are characterized by excellent structure and aging potential, along with invigorating acidity, which allows for seamless pairing with a variety of foods.
Of all the influences that have shaped Derek’s path, his family’s Cherokee heritage has been the steady drumbeat that led him to the right places at the right times. His parents gifted him the name “Winter Hawk” as a child. To this day, the sight of a hawk feather in his vineyard reminds Derek that he is fulfilling his destiny. That rich heritage gently guides his hand in the cellar. For Derek, terroir is a gift.

In 1928, Peter Zemmer, the great uncle of the present winemaker of the same name, established the winery. Vineyards and wineries in the best locations around Cortina s.s.d.v. in the lowlands of Alto Adige have been part of the winery since then. Helmut Zemmer, the founder’s nephew, has always been working in the business and after the early death of his uncle in 1969, he took over the winery, which he has turned into one of the leading companies in the region. Now his son Peter continues the legacy in the interest of his family. Peter Zemmer’s precious experience, detailed and innovative knowledge, together with the perfect natural environment, guarantee the quality and the expressive character of the wines, in harmony with the surrounding nature.
The area in and around Cortina s.s.d.v. offers the ideal breeding ground for high quality white wines and authentic red wines. Peter Zemmer knows his land, his vines, and climatic conditions like the back of his hand and how to best work the soil. The authentic wines thus combine the closeness to nature and inspiration.

The history of the Chionetti family has been linked to the vine from the 19th century.
The turning point came in 1912 when Giuseppe Chionetti bought the farm in a suitable area for vineyards in San Luigi in the town of Dogliani.
Starting from this moment the Chionetti family linked it own name with the dolcetto wine they were selling to the biggest traders of the area.
Gradually the sale of bottled wine, and consequently the Chionetti name, were established. But it is thanks to Quinto, grandson of the founder Giuseppe, that the marketing of the bottles with the name of the family really grew. Andrea then, the son of Quinto, decided to explore the potential of their vineyards and, as a result, they start to produce trhee crus: Sorì Briccolero, San Luigi, Vigna la Costa.
In those years the company expanded significantly linking its name to the Dogliani wine and started to export abroad and in the US.
In 1988, in the moment of maximum growth, Andrea and his daughter Elena died in a car accident. Quinto nonetheless continued the work that years before he had handed over to his son, leading the company with great determination in the new millennium.
In 1999 Maria, the wife of Andrea, took the decision to help him, leaving her work in a bank.
Finally in 2013, Quinto handed the reins over to his grandson Nicola, who decided to carry on the tradition of the production of the Dogliani, recuperating the vinification of the cru La Costa, already wanted by his father Andrea.
Since 2015 the Chionetti family has purchased 3 vineyards in the Barolo area. The grapes are vinified separately, thus giving three distinct Barolo wines.

Giuseppe Sesti, the founder, has an interesting background, studied astronomy at university and then theater. With the family we moved to Montalcino in 1975 when he discovered the wine, but until 1992 he produced no bottle.
With 1995 it is the first vintage came out on the market.
The corporate style incorporates astronomy studied at the university in the cultivation of grapes and uses its theory for planting plants and when to start the harvest.
On their Brunello Riserva every year a different label is created, inherent to an astronomical event that happened in that particular vintage.
Her daughter, Elisa, is now in charge of the cellar. The top wine, Brunello Riserva "Phenomena", was released only in good-excellent years. The winery is located has a historic building called Castello di Argiano, one of the fortifications built to protect Montalcino in the 12th century.

In the 1950s Pierluigi Talenti purchased the property and the lands that he had fallen in love with and decided to move from Romagna to the gently rolling, sunny hills of Montalcino.
Over the years, he devoted his time to clonal research into the locally grown Sangiovese, taking his wines to the highest levels of quality.
Today, Riccardo Talenti continues that research, with the utmost respect for tradition, working with the very same passion and determination.
The estate has been developed around an old farm called “Pian di Conte”, not far from Sant’Angelo in Colle, on the southern slope of the municipality of Montalcino, which has been restructured and expanded over the years.
The property occupies an area of 40 hectares, among vineyards, olive groves, orchards and seed crops, surrounded by age-old holm-oak woods, characteristic of the Montalcino area.

Sorugo Bolgheri Superiore
2018
94/100
The 2018 Sor Ugo is a superb Bolgheri red. Pliant, succulent and so expressive, the 2018 offers plenty of richness, but with terrific energy, too. Black cherry, mocha, spice, licorice and chocolate all build as the 2018 fills out over time. The purity of the flavors is striking.

After generations in the wine sector, the Pellegrini family founded Aia Vecchia in 1996 with the mission to create a portfolio of small lot, high-quality Super Tuscan blends. With the help of the famous Hungarian winemaker Tibor Gal, the Pellegrini family purchased exceptional property in the Bolgheri DOC. The fusion of the microclimate, terrain and elevation creates an ideal location for growing premium grapes.
Aia Vecchia recruited well-known agronomist Daniel Schuster to assist with choosing varieties, clones, and different rootstocks, which come directly from Bordeaux in order to ensure the quality.
The first vintage of Aia Vecchia’s flagship wine, “Lagone,” was in 1998. It is a structured and elegant wine that is remains one of the greatest values to come out of the Bolgheri region and has captured the attention of critics from publications such as Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast and more.
At Aia Vecchia, we succeed in obtaining the best results through hard work and our will to express the natural characteristics of the Bolgheri region. Our production is limited in order to ensure the best quality goes into each bottle.
Attention to detail is seen in everything we do, from the farming, to the hand picking of the grapes, up to the individual vinification, fermentation and aging. All of this, coupled with our respect for the land, help us to create high quality wines that we are proud to present.

Out of the 56 hectares that make up our estate, roughly 8 are reserved for our Brunello di Montalcino, most of which are located in the north, near our wine cellar, while the remaining part is in the south-east area. Initially farmed as one single territory, to produce just one wine, in 1998 Marco had already grasped the potential of these two soils, realizing that to unite such different products meant to decrease Montalcino’s potential. Hence the idea of producing, alongside the “classic” Brunello that had been produced until then and would later take on the name of “La Mannella”, a new product, a selection originating exclusively from the grapes harvested in the south-east area, named, indeed, “Poggiarelli”. The soil composition in fact, consisting of clay and sandstone at La Mannella, rocky and rich in marl for I Poggiarelli, made scents, tastes and sensations completely different from each other, and it was at once clear that these differences could no longer be ignored.

Quattro Theory Wine would like to bring back to the original "Napa wine style" where you can't tell if it's French or American when you open the bottle. This is the original Napa style. It changed in the 90s and has continued to this day.
Quattro Theory wines capture the true expression of Napa Valley and combine four distinctive elements: winemaker Landon Donley's purposeful vision, high-quality vineyards, precision winemaking, and experiences with food and friends. Made with care to be enjoyed casually.
